The West Coast Gallery - Art, Local Delicacies, Meals & Nursery - Velddrif

By Joan Schrauwen on Friday, July 23, 2004 - 09:00 pm: Edit Post

The West Coast Gallery is in Velddrif, between the Berg River and St Helena Bay. Our website is www.velddrif.com. We offer the latest in art from West Coast artists predominantly, so for a momento in paintings, photographs, sculptures and tasty biscuits, bokkoms and West Coast delicacies, including all varieties of the world-famous Khoisan Seasalts , (website www.khoisantrading.co.za) please visit us. We are open every day except Sundays and can offer delicious meals for breakfast, brunch and lunch. For instance, Venison in season, lamb bredie with waterblommetjies, salads from our own herb garden, fresh fish, calamari and mussels on the woodgrill (under the trees in summer) and fat oysters. Also chocolate eclairs made by our Belgian chef and extra special cheesecake and scones - everything made on the premises.

We have an enthusiastic boules (Petanque) team in Velddrif 25 of us, who play the first Thursday of every month, with French meals for a big communal lunch (in winter in the front of a big fire.)

Our nursery is well known for its indigenous plants! For specialities for your veld garden, visit us. We also stock the wonderful 'Gardener's Gold-Dust' - using this 100% organic soil conditioner turns your sand or clay into black, crumbly, microactive soil - a pleasure to work with, and see the reaction from your plants! We also sell hand-decorated stepping stones (with leaf imprints or embedded shells and pebble designs), and shell gravel for paths and driveways.

There is enough to keep tourists entertained for a couple of hours. We look forward to seeing you if you are up this way.
