Darling Museum recreates life in a bygone era with fascinating displays of Victorian clothing, kitchen implements, china and household furniture.
It reflects the lifestyle and growth of the village over the century and a half since it was founded in 1853.
There is an old classroom, complete with small wooden desks, inkwells, slates and schoolbooks and photographs of events at the old school in Darling. A traditional kitchen has an old Dover stove, a collection of laundry irons and all the seemingly now quaint kitchen tools that were used in a non-electric kitchen. The original buttermaking section contains different types of large old wooden churns and unique wooden butter washing machines.
The ‘Ouma’s Treasures’ museum shop is a treasure trove of kitchen collectables, bric-a-brac, Darling crafts and home-produced goods such as jams, preserves, liqueurs and farm butter.
