In the town of:

Riebeek-West

Surrounded by spectacular mountains and breathtaking green vineyards lies the Riebeek Valley.

On the slopes of the Kasteelberg, only 4 km apart, are Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West.

This is the birthplace of two South African political figures. General Jan Smuts were born in 1870 on the farm "Bovenplaas" and Dr D F Malan on the farm "Allesverloren".

Discovered and named by Jan van Riebeek, this fertile valley produce wheat, table grapes, olives and peaches. With many well-known wine cellars in this area, it is famous for producing award-winning wines.

In this picturesque area many painters and writers have nestled to experience the hospitality and tranquillity this valley has to offer.
