Fly-fishing near to Cape Town
By Jim_S on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 08:36 pm: Edit Post|
1) I am very interested (some may say I am a complete nut) in fly-fishing. My main hobby being fresh water river fishing for salmon and trout in Scotland. I have also fly fished in India, Nepal, France, Canada, etc etc.
2) I have been invited to stay with friends for a month or so at Fishhoek and am told there is good trout fishing available without travelling too far from base. I wonder if you would be so kind as to inform me of the possibilities of adding to my favourite sporting experiences?. I have heard, for instance, that the river Breede is one to consider but my informant is not an expert in such matters. There may be other rivers too.
3) Could you point me in the right direction to allow me to fish or even give me a contact who might know the way around?
4) Kind regards, and thanking you in anticipation of a reply.
The primary organisation of Cape Town fly-fishing is via the CAPE PISCATORIAL SOCIETY.
I live in Fish Hoek myself and I know very little about fly-fishing. The nearest to Fish Hoek and Cape Town that I have seen fly-fishers, is 50 miles (80km) away at Du Toitskloof, just off the N1 mountain pass and toll tunnel. On the internet, I found this description, but no contact information. However, I think that it is the same place as this
