The HANGKLIP-KLEINMOND area includes Rooi Els, Pringle Bay and Betty’s Bay. Escape into Nature at its best, just ninety minutes from Cape Town! The majestic Hangklip Coast combines a range of massive mountains and a spectacular, wave-swept coastline. All this is punctuated with golden-beaches ranging from tiny to ever-ending. The Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve spans some 100 000 hectares in which there are over 1 600 species of fynbos for you to discover. At Rooi Els catch the sun setting over False Bay: dive for crayfish (in season), angle from rocks; watch out for whales, baboons and the Cape Clawless Otter. Don’t forget your bird book. Pringle Bay hosts a Craft Market the first Saturday morning of each month. Bodysurf at the beach before feasting on fresh fish. Betty’s Bay’s Harold Porter National Botanical Garden is a “must”. Plan a visit to one of only two land-based African penguin colony (around sunset is the best time). The town of Kleinmond will cover all your daily needs – having supermarkets, banks, laundrettes and more. Enjoy the Lagoon and cliff-top walks. Nestled between the coast and the mountain you’ll find a wide variety of accommodation facilities from B&B’s to self-catering units to hotels and camping sites. Excellent restaurants, art galleries and craft shops can be found throughout the area.
