Paarl made headlines and was announced to the world, when President Mandela was released from Victor Verster prison on the outskirts of this town. It is situated about a 40 minutes drive from Cape Town, Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront, within easy reach of all major attractions. With its wonderful warm sultry summers and mild winters, Paarl produces the best wines in the Western Cape Region, internationally renowned wine estates export their prize wines all over the world. An advantage is that Paarl is almost a well kept secret, and it's tourist trade is still in its infancy, thus retainig a conservative outlook where tourism is concerned. In all aspects it is still very affordable to visit, and is becoming a much sought after tourist destination, and its property market a good investment for foreigners. Its beautiful long Main road, most of it lined with ancient oak trees, Cape Dutch architecture, Language museum and the Afrikaans Language monument, lush views of the vineyards bordering the roads of the town, famous granite rock and Paarl Rock Botanical Garden are only a few reasons for making Paarl a stop over.
