Nestling at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, Swellendam has much to offer visitors who have an interest in history, nature and outdoor activities. Although part of the Overberg, Swellendam borders on the Garden Route, the Breede River Valley and the Little Karoo (Route 62) and is thus the ideal base from which to explore the different areas. Day trips can be made to Cape L’Agulhas, the Southern-most tip of Africa; the fishing village of Waenhuiskrans; the Whale Nursery at the mouth of the Breede River; the mission village of Suurbraak and the scenic Tradouw Pass up to Barrydale; Montagu and its hot water springs and the Bonnievale wine route. Swellendam offers a variety of accommodation to suit every taste.
