De Rust, is a small Victorian village flanked by the Swartberg Mountain Range, situated on the N12 on route to the Garden Route and the R62 to Cape Town. Land of blueblood ostriches, golden vineyards and home of original pelargoniums from which all gereniums emanated.
Its renowned attraction is Meirings Poort, an incredible passageway of towering sandstone cliffs that pierce through the heart of the Swartberg Mountains.(also famous for the Meirings Poort Half Marathon taking place in October each year and the diversity of its plants is unbelievable).
Excellent dessert wines, sunny weather, clear skies, perfect for star gazing and lots of fresh air. Photographer’s paradise.
Stompdrift Dam, which has the longest coast line in the Klein Karoo, is wellknown for watersport i.e. skiing, kayaking, fishing etc. and the carp derby.
