"At Journeys end, a friendly Inn..." Eight Bells is situated at the foot of the Robinson Pass R328 between Mossel Bay (35kms) and Oudtshoorn (50kms) amidst the magnificent mountain scenery of the Ruiterbos Valley Region.
Previously a place of outspan for wagon-travellers during the 1800's, Eight Bells - owned and operated by the Brown family for the past 30 years - is renowned for it's friendly hospitality and superb facilities.
Tastefully furnished accommodation is set in enchanting gardens and consists of en suite bedrooms, thatched rondavels, family suites and air-conditioned timberlog cabins - all with under-carpet heating, a safe, clock-radio, direct dial telephone and TV set with local and selected satelite channels.
The main building houses an elegant lounge with a large fireplace lit on cooler evenings, the Bosun's Whistle Pub and historical billiard room with it's beautiful yellowwood floors, as well as an indoor sunroom, garden terrace and the Oak Dining Room.
Teas and an excellent selection of lunch and snack dishes are served throughout the day in the garden or indoors in the sunroom. In the evening an a'la carte menu is served in the Oak Room complimented by an extensive wine list.
Outdoor activities on the Inn's 400-acre estate include a bell-shaped swimming pool, 2 all-weather tennis courts, a glass-backed squash court, a full-size bowling green and beginners rink, as well as bird watching, horse riding and walking trails amidst indigenous species of the Cape's floral Kingdom.
Eight Bells is a property in the Portfolio Collection and is Highly Recommended by the AA.
