Struisbaai
Struisbaai is situated next to L'Agulhas, at the southernmost tip of Africa. As a quiet coastal holiday town in the Overberg, it has a mild climate, with a cool sea breeze for most of the year. Late summer offers long beautiful calm days, with some rain during the winter months, when the occasional whale can be spotted.
Do some hiking or biking in the unspoilt coastal area, where fynbos in the nature reserves bloom in winter, with flowers to be enjoyed in any season.
The major attraction is the 14 km white beach, that stretches many kilometers to Arniston further to the North-East. The calm water of the huge bay area is ideal for family bathing and tanning. At the small fishing harbour fresh fish and seafood can be bought daily. Smaller fishing boats can be launched.
The traditional fishermen cottages and the L'Agulhas Lighthouse (1848) adds to the attraction.
