In the town of:
McGregor Paint Out's!
McGregor Sketch Book / Holiday Diary Paint Out :
This weekend would start with coffee and biscuits in the Mulberry Studio while we chat about the format and purpose of the sketch book:
Small A6 size page sketch book of Bockingford 300g watercolour paper bound with a ribbon and the pages prepared with masking tape edges (to be removed after painting / sketch completed in order to have an even border).
On loan: (A basket supplied to hold each package)
·Small watercolor paint brushes with water jars and bottles.
·A supply of selected watercolour and lead pencils and ink pens.
·Work boards and small stools
·Tissue paper, sponges, pencil sharpeners and erasers.
Initial Discussion: 9 am – 10 am
We talk about composition, tonal shading, watercolour, ink or pencil effects and how to get the best results from these mediums.
We talk about the design of the pages and suggestions on comments to be written on each page under the painting – the date, lighting, place, mood, initial response to what you are looking at and how best to capture it on paper.
We talk about using these sketch books as:
Gifts, memoirs, initial sketches for later paintings etc.
Paint out in McGregor: 10 am to 12:30
We meander through McGregor farmlands, mountains and streets stopping when we spot an interesting subject to sketch and paint.
Lunch: 12:30 to 14:00
Meander back to Mulberry Studio 14:00 to 15:30: stopping on the way for one more scene.
Discussion and tea: 15:30 to 16:00
